Frequently asked

Wi-Fi works in the living room but drops out in the back of the house. What can you do?
Walk us through the layout on the phone or in person. The fix is usually moving the router, adding a mesh node, or replacing a router that's older than the speed plan you're paying for. We'll tell you which before any equipment goes in.
How often should I replace my router?
Plan on about five years for most home routers, less if you've added a lot of smart-home or streaming devices since you bought it. Other tells it's overdue: it doesn't support the speed plan you're paying for, or it needs to be restarted regularly to stay stable. If you're not sure, we'll take a look and tell you whether it has life left.
Should I use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
5 GHz is faster and less crowded; 2.4 GHz reaches farther and goes through walls better. Use 5 GHz for anything close to the router and 2.4 GHz for devices in the far corners of the house — smart plugs, doorbells, older equipment. Modern routers usually pick the right band automatically once both share the same network name.
Can you set up a new router?
Yes. Out of the box to working network, with the right Wi-Fi name and password, a guest network if you want one, and the old equipment retired properly.
Do you handle smart-home gear like Alexa, smart plugs, or smart TVs?
We'll get individual devices on Wi-Fi and connected to their apps. For whole-house automation — scenes, lighting integrations, security systems — we'll refer you to a specialist who does that work full time.
